Michel Carrisse and his wife, Françoise Dumenil, attended Shen Yun’s opening performance in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre on Dec. 28, 2017. “What I hear here gives me hope,” he said. (Rahul Vaidyanath/The Epoch Times)

“The spirituality really touched me. … What we hear in the news about China is the race for supremacy—economically, militarily. ... And what I hear here gives me hope. Because I find it so regrettable that China officially rejects its own values that date back 5,000 years.”

“I was touched directly in my heart, in my soul, to see these values and the regaining of spirituality. The ending message was really on point. I found it a beautiful finale.”

“We got to see everything [in this performance], opera, the erhu, all was magnificent. Just one word: grandiose.”

“It was worth every penny. ... [I would tell my friends,] come see the show. It’s worth it. I was asking the people who sell merchandise if there are still seats. I’ll talk to my friends.”

“The traditional values that we need to recover, that’s the only thing that will get us out of this chaos that we live in.”

“I came to see [Shen Yun] about five or six years ago. ... Now I’m surprised to see five companies touring at the same time—it’s incredible how big Shen Yun has become.”
