The cause of death for “Glee” actor Mark Salling, who was found dead at 35 earlier this week in Los Angeles, has been revealed.
Officially, the cause of death was asphyxia from hanging. His body was discovered in a riverbed.
Salling told a judge that he was on medication for depression at a court hearing. He had previously attempted to kill himself as he awaited trial on charges of possession of child pornography.
A family member reported him missing on Tuesday. His body was found 9 a.m. near the Starwood Riding club horse-riding facility several miles from his home in Sunland. Police also found his car in the area.
Salling was slated to be sentenced to four to seven years in prison after he entered a plea to the charges, and he was also supposed to pay a $250,000 fine as well as $50,000 to victims who came forward seeking restitution.
Defense attorney Troy Slaten, who isn’t involved with his case, said that victims may now have to sue to get restitution from his estate.
He played Noah “Puck” Puckerman on “Glee” from 2009 to 2015.
