It is official: Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation is dead.

Mueller, nonetheless, is not ready to retire yet. Like a soap opera character who has exhausted the plot, Mueller has jumped the shark. In order to save his sagging narrative, Mueller has taken up the causes of two women who claimed to have had affairs with President Donald Trump long before his election.

On April 9, the FBI raided the office and hotel room of Trump’s long-time personal attorney, Michael Cohen. According to The New York Times, the Feds were specifically looking for information related to Cohen’s dealings with the two women.

Technically, the raid was under the auspices of the U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of New York, but the basis for the raid was a referral from the special counsel.

The move reeked of desperation. It indicated that, after more than 10 months and millions of dollars spent, Mueller has nothing on the alleged Trump–Russia collusion. If he had any incriminating evidence against Trump, we would either see indictments or hear it from the mainstream media by now. There has not been a peep.

The raid also revealed that Mueller has not been interested in finding the truth at all. From the get-go, his purpose has been to get Trump. He failed miserably in the Russia collusion probe, because the narrative was invented by the Democrats out of thin air. After exhausting that dead end, Mueller suddenly found particularly attractive a porn actress who is credibility-challenged.

The nature of Mueller’s investigation completely changed on April 9. Before, it was a witch hunt masquerading as a legitimate probe. Now, it is openly an all-Democrat hit squad and should be treated as such.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” The legitimacy of Mueller’s hit squad should be challenged, impugned, and denied at every opportunity. Team Trump should refuse to cooperate with Mueller in any way, shape, or form. For those Trump associates who think cooperation with Mueller might get them sweetened deals, look no further than Cohen.

If you choose to work with Mueller, what happened to Cohen could happen to you. Mueller should be stalled, stonewalled, and stymied. If Mueller subpoenas, fight every subpoena in court if possible. If Mueller raids, file injunctions and ask judges to make decisions on what can or can’t be viewed by Mueller’s hit squad. Leave nothing to Mueller.

No one should have absolute and interminable power. Since Rod Rosenstein refused to put Mueller on a leash, let transparency restrain Mueller. Trump should not only declassify everything related to the Russian probe, but everything Mueller touches. This will send a clear message to Mueller that he is not beyond reproach. In the end, Mueller will face the judgment of public opinion.

Finally, a friendly reminder to Mueller: If you are determined to be a political hitman, make sure you are able to finish the job. You will need an exit strategy eventually. You are not so naive as to expect no consequences for insulting a sitting president, are you? The Democrats will not go easy on you, either. You were an instant darling with the Democrats. But if you fail to nail Trump, they can dump you in a heartbeat.
