A Wisconsin woman who took off with her 4-year-old daughter on the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 17, has been found, police say.
Fort Atkinson police Captain Jeff Davis told the station that both were found safe later that morning near Stoughton Road in Madison, Wisconsin.
Police said they were able to find the pair after a tipoff that morning from a person who had spoken to Harter on Wednesday at around3:45 p.m.
The concerned citizen said they came across Harter when she was parked on the side of Highway 58 near Ithaca after running out of gas.
The person told police they gave her gas money and offered to buy her daughter a car seat when they saw that she didn’t have one.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened for Harter. Officials were concerned for the welfare of the two, the station reported, because Harter has driven to different parts of the state before and gotten confused as to why she was there.
