The 2017 Chinese New Year arrives on Jan. 28, beginning the Year of the Rooster, ending on Feb. 15, 2018.

Each year is represented in the Chinese zodiac as one of twelve animal signs. According to the five elements theory in Chinese cosmology—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, which symbolize the universe’s cyclic energies that overlap with the cycle of, and affect, the 12 animal signs—2017 is the Year of the Fire Rooster. This is the year when only hard work and patience will result in you achieving your goals.

Chinese people consider Rooster years to generally be a blend of righteousness and justice, pomposity and efficiency. The Fire Rooster is said to exemplify the virtues of righteousness, perseverance, and openness, and to generously reward those who get to know them. With its proud and elegant appearance, the Rooster is also a beautiful animal.

People born in the Year of the Rooster are said to have the following personalities:

Brave and stubborn

The first creature to awake in the morning, the rooster awakens everyone else with its crowing. Roosters tend to be courageous and courteous, and tend to be incredibly competent. Stress, opposition, and adversity only spur them to go above and beyond to overcome and succeed.

Hard Task-Masters

Rooster people are usually deep thinkers. They are alert to opportunities, often seeing far into the distant horizon for chances. They can be hard task-masters, but are often forgiven because they are so good at getting the key points as well as observing others’ behavior. Their confidence and attitude lead to efficiency and quality in their work.

Creative and Artistic

Most Roosters are very career-oriented and enthusiastic about their work. Because of their strong abilities and lack of timidity, jobs related to design, creativity, and intelligence are a good fit for them. They are also quite adaptive in work and play.

Gentle and Romantic

They are incredibly romantic and the objects of their affection are often surprised with gifts. They also enjoy the company of close family members and friends. Most of them will have a happy and harmonious marriage. In addition, their relationships with family members are usually quite good because of their charming personality traits.

Fashionable Dresser

Most Rooster people were born pretty or handsome. They like to dress up and find their own style. Although they enjoy preening in both appearance and behavior, they do not like to follow others. They are straight-forward and have a quick mind and hot temper. They prefer to be busy and neat.

Proud and Strong, With Self-Respect

Confident, Roosters like to crow about their abilities to all. Being aware of your own ability is a good thing; however, it can become irritating if you are always boasting about your achievements. Roosters are critical, think they are always right and, therefore, like to lecture others. Sometimes, they can be too outspoken and somewhat narrow-minded.

Impatient

Most Rooster people don’t have much patience and persistence to concentrate on any one thing. They may become enthusiastic about something very quickly, but soon lose interest. Because of this, they need to have enough faith in themselves and the patience to focus on one issue or project. However, they are very punctual when they work.

People born in the Year of the Rooster tend to be excellent actors, athletes, fashion designers, beauticians, politicians, writers, and police.

A year of the Rooster can be one of amazing success for those who can patiently endure the tedious and sometimes lonely beginning of a business project. During Rooster years, however, it is even more important for them to be cautious if expecting a quick and easy return on their investments in any new venture.
