Catch the latest release the old-fashioned way at the Warwick Drive-In Theater, in the upstate New York town of Warwick. The original theater has been standing since 1950, and has been run by its current owners as a family business for over 20 years. In 2014, they converted from film to digital projection, enhancing the viewing experience while retaining that drive-in charm.
The nearby, award-winning Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast in Salisbury Mills is now creating “date” boxes for movie-going guests, each containing a snack, candy, and water bottles for movie-time munching. A drive-in package is also available through mid-October, including a two-night stay, complimentary admission for two to the Warwick Drive-In theater, and complimentary three-course breakfasts, parking, and Wi-Fi. Prices start at $390 plus tax.
“I think people miss simpler times and the experience of driving in, dimming your lights, and cozying up,” said Dena Finneran, co-owner of the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast, in a press release. “[It] feels like you’re unplugging from the rest of the world.”
