Walmart says it is recalling certain lots or batches of Great Value Popping Corn after insects were found.

According to Canadian business news outlet BNN, “The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a national recall for Walmart Canada’s Great Value brand popping corn, due to insects being found in the product.”

“According to the Government of Canada website for recalls and safety alerts, the one-kilogram size of Great Value Popping Corn with best before dates purchased on or before Dec. 28. has been recalled,” the recall notice, posted in early February, says.

Namely, what is being recalled is the Great Value brand Popping Corn, sold in 1-kilogram containers. The affected batch or lots have best-before dates purchased on or before Dec. 28, 2017, and have a UPC of 6 81131 76007 2, according to the Living Safely Recalls website.

“Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food,” the website said.

“If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Popping Corn, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.”
