Vicious Australian Pedophile Smiles As He Gets Life Imprisonment
Peter Gerard Scully, one of the world’s most shamelessly vicious paedophiles, smiled as he was sentenced to life in prison in a Philippines court on Wednesday, June 13.
Scully, 55, was sentenced to life along with Carme Ann Alvarez, his former girlfriend and accomplice.
Judge Jose Escobido convicted Scully of one count of human trafficking and five counts of rape by sexual assault of underage girls.
He faces up to 60 additional charges for child murder, torture, and abuse cases against children as young as 12 months old. The Philippines government had earlier considered reintroducing the death penalty for Scully, news.com.au reported.
Lead investigator from an international investigation team, Angelito Magno, said that Scully made child pornography and torture videos he called “The Destruction of Daisy.” It was revealed that clients from Europe had funded Scully due to the online demand for his abusive content. One of the videos involved an 18-month-old girl being hung upside down and tortured.
Scully sold the videos to customers around the world for $10,000 per view. His anonymity was finally brought down when Scully accusedly made two young girls, 12 and 13, dig their own graves while they were getting raped. They escaped with chains around their necks, seeking local police for help, ABC reported.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has spent approximately $500,000 on Scully’s legal assistance, The Australian reported.
According to the Serious Overseas Criminal Matters Scheme, the accused is eligible for public funding if they are punished with an imprisonment of 20 years or more, or a death penalty. They will not be assisted if they can afford to fund their legal aid without serious financial difficulty, are eligible for legal assistance in the overseas country, or do not have a continuing connection with Australia.
Scully will be face court again on June 20, ABC reported.
