In a world full of crime, hate—and rather grumpy individuals—there are people who make the world a better place by sprinkling love wherever they are. If you do not have any faith in humanity, you have probably not met enough people like this man from Cuenca, Ecuador.
Stephanie St. James and her husband are originally from the United States, but they decided to move to South America to experience a different culture, according to Inspire More.
Although Ecuador is lovely, some of the things the married couple witnessed were not so beautiful. Like in any developing country with significant poverty and crime issues, everyday life can be a strain on people’s belief in other’s goodness.
One day, none of that crime or poverty mattered—when Stephanie and her husband looked out their window and saw their neighbor doing something remarkable for the community.
This man decided to help out those in need all by himself.
The couple were in the comfort of their own home when Stephanie’s husband noticed something. He urged her to come look at what he saw out of the window, and Stephanie could not help but record it on video.
“This man across the street is literally feeding people,” she said in amazement.
Standing at the doorway with a bag in his hand, the older man was giving out food to his community. He started giving out food packages to a couple of people, and it seemed like he might have run out. But then the crowd grew from two women to seven people lining up outside of his door, and he brought out another bag of food.
As the line dwindled down, you could see people running towards the generous man to collect food from him as well. Before they could get to him, he had his arm out, happily giving them what he had in his bag.
In 3 minutes and 25 seconds, the man gave food away to over 20 people.
Stephanie was inspired by the kind act, and she shared some inspirational words along with the video on Facebook.
“So many of us spend our days complaining about what we don’t have and about how F’d up the world is because we are being fed so much negativity through media and social media all day long. We tune into it and we lose perspective.”
She ends the post with a solution: “Lead from your heart. Be of service. Love thy neighbor.”
Stephanie’s faith in humanity has been restored, along with many other social media followers—and it is all thanks to this kind man who fed as many hungry people as he possibly could.

For those of you who have lost faith in humanity, this morning my husband and I had the honor of witnessing one of the most beautiful acts of kindness we have ever seen. We are living in South America to experience life around the world, and we were making coffee when my husband said come look at what’s happening here. So many of us spend our days complaining about what we don’t have and about how F’d up the world is because we are being fed so much negativity through media and social media all day long. We tune into it and we lose perspective. So Here is some perspective for you today. Lead from your heart. Be of service.Love thy neighbor.Music on this video by my sister Jeni Shakti Fujita (For licensing/commercial usage please contact firstname.lastname@example.org)
