The father of a missing 7-month-old boy, whose body was found on March 7, has reportedly provided details of his son’s death to police.

Victor Manuel Minjarez, 31, was arrested and charged with the murder of his son, Jody, and illegally disposing of human remains.

According to News9, Minjarez told police that Jody died a week ago in the vacant home he had been hiding out in since Feb. 19.

A probable cause affidavit states that the father told investigators he and the baby were sleeping on a mattress next to a heater. When he woke up, he found the 7-month-old with bubbles around his mouth, and heard gurgling sounds. The child also had blisters on his face. Minjarez wrapped the body in a blanket after he realized the baby had passed away, reported News9.

He said he put the body in plastic bags, and then into the trash can outside the house.

Minjarez reportedly said he did not call police or request medical attention because he knew he was wanted by authorities.

The Medical Examiner said the cause of the baby’s death was blunt force trauma to the head, and ruled the death a homicide, News9 reports.

NTD previously reported that Oklahoma police called off an Amber Alert issued for the 7-month-old boy after he was found dead on Wednesday, March 7.

Police were looking for Minjarez who allegedly kidnapped his son in February.

An Amber Alert was issued for Jody on the morning of March 7. By evening, police had located Minjarez at a residence in Oklahoma, where they also discovered Jody’s body, said a press release.
Authorities said the incident began on Feb. 19 when police responded to a domestic violence call at Jody’s mother’s home in Norman. According to an earlier police statement, Minjarez allegedly violently attacked the baby’s mother and then fled the scene with Jody in a U-Haul pickup truck.

Police said they were unable to locate Minjarez because he was homeless. However, they believed he may have been staying in the metro, a motel, or with a friend.

On Feb. 23, an emergency Victim Protective Order was issued to the child’s mother, which required the return of her 7-month-old.

Five days later, the mother allegedly received a message from Minjarez through his friend that she “would never see her son again,” said the statement.

“Based on this information, it is believed that 7-month-old Jody Minjarez is in imminent danger of bodily harm or death,” the statement said.

However, an Amber Alert was not issued until March 7, after police received “evidence of further recent criminal behavior,” according to the release.

Police called off the Amber Alert later on Wednesday after they discovered Jody’s body.

Minjarez is currently being held in Oklahoma City Jail.
