A Montana toddler was flown to an out-of-state hospital after a dog mauled her at daycare.

Naomi Card, 3, was viciously attacked in Billings at the Precious Time Daycare, run by her grandmother Michelle Repeta.

Animal control officers aren’t sure what caused the bullmastiff, Titan, to attack the toddler.

“Well, nobody saw it happen, so nobody knows exactly what happened,” Tom Stinchfield, Animal Control supervisor for Billings, told the Billings Gazette.

Whatever the reason, the attack left the three-year-old with deep wounds on her hand, neck and face—including one ear being “split in half,” which doctors sewed up.

She was flown to Children’s Hospital Colorado for treatment.

“It’s just really hard to see her like that,” mother Itxaropen Card said, of her daughter, to the Gazette. “I just cry every time.”

A web search turned up no information for the day care.

Naomi’s grandfather told KULR that the dog belongs to him and that the daycare had nothing to do with the incident. He said the dog was put down by animal control shortly after the attack.
