A girl in Texas died just one day after her last wish was granted.

Lydia Dominguez, 19, became terminally ill with stage IV renal cancer.

But before she died, she wanted to get married to her boyfriend Joshua Ordonez in El Paso, Texas.

Ordonez popped the question on Feb. 13. Hours later, the ceremony took place in the hospital room.

“She broke out in tears and then said yes. So I guess yes, that is the hesitation. But other than that, she said yes, right away,” he told KVIA.

The two met online and then became a couple.

“We got together and we were happy. And then we found out she was getting sick again. We just didn’t focus too much on that. We focused on how we could make each other happy in the days that we had together,” Ordonez said.

Once the teen said yes, hospital staff and family members worked quickly to make the wedding happen.
The El Paso Times reported that when asked why getting married was her dying wish, Dominguez responded: “Because I love him.”

The couple was married at Children’s Hospital.

“I knew my daughter was someone special, and today she proved it to us,” said Marisa Sanchez, Dominguez’s mother, to the Times.

Dominguez was transported via wheelchair to the entrance of the family room. She was then able to walk to the altar.
