A State University at Binghamton student has died after being stabbed on campus Sunday night, April 15, the school said. University officials released an announcement on the university’s Facebook page, saying “We are sad to report that a student has died due to a stabbing on campus that occurred at about 10:30 p.m.”

The victim was identified Joao Souza, a 19-year-old freshman engineering student. The university has informed the family of the student and said they have requested privacy, The Buffalo News reports.
