When Ashley Davison decided to buy her boyfriend the “Call of Duty” game, she drew up a set of rules that he needed to sign before he received his new gift.

The list of five rules for her boyfriend, Blake Perry, require him to pause the game if she calls, reply to her text messages within 11 minutes and to keep her entertained if she’s present while he’s playing the game.

The University of Oklahoma student’s rules also specify that he will “not forget about his girlfriend” when playing the new “Call of Duty WWII” and includes a space for Perry’s signature.

He took to Twitter on Dec. 24, posting an image of the contract, that he signed, with the caption, “Little does she know these rules will be broken.”

It turned out his tweet struck a chord with many people, and it racked up over 31,000 likes and more than 1,000 comments.

Rules For Your New Gift are:

1. If I call you must pause the game and talk to me with full attention

2. No starting another match if we are planning to hang out or I ask to hang out

3. You must ask if it is okay for you to play while I am over at your house with you. Make sure I have something to do while you are in battle.

4. You must reply to a text no longer than 11 minutes

5. Do not forget to give me just as much attention.

The tweet brought mixed reactions, with a “Call of Duty” player, Ariana Watkins, commenting on the post and calling Davison “crazy.”

“My friends know I am not pausing anything and I will not be checking or replying to any text until after the game is over,” she wrote.

Both Davidson and Perry later said that the rules were just a joke, but it didn’t dampen the online debate.

Daniel Rodrigues said, “I’ve been through this before, she wants you to think it’s a joke but in reality if you don’t follow those rules she will go postal on you. Just beware.”

“NatAttack” wrote, “Trying to figure out why I haven’t done this bc this something I would do. This is actually the best thing ever !”

The couple insisted that it was all in good humor.

“In case you couldn’t tell this is obviously a joke,” Perry clarified in a tweet.

After someone known as Marissa on Twitter questioned, “Are you dating your mom?” Davison was quick to reply, “Are you serious? It’s a joke.”
