Five needles were discovered in the brain of a 17-year-old male with symptoms of epilepsy from Neijiang City, Sichuan Province. A doctor who operated on the boy believes that these five needles might have forced into the boy’s brain before he was a year old. To this day his parents have not understood who did this to their child, and why.
According to Chengdu Business, on November 12 a doctor at the First People’s Hospital of Neijiang removed two shoe-sewing needles 5.2 centimeter in length, and three regular sewing needles, from the young man’s brain during an operation.
The report quotes the doctor as saying that because a baby human fontanel generally closes at around one year of age, these five needles must have been inserted before he was a year old. The insertion certainly damaged his brain system and cerebral functions, causing him to suffer epileptic fits. Removing the needles is not guaranteed to stop the epileptic symptoms; however, these can be controlled with medication.
The reports says that the young man’s father cannot imagine who he might have wronged in the past who would want to take this sort of revenge.
According to the father, when his son was around eight or nine months old, he ried very badly for several days, and a thumb-sized swelling was later discovered at the top of his head. At that time, doctors were unable to figure out the cause of the swelling and thought the injury resulted from bumping into a hard object.
