A man filming a selfie video was slammed by a train in India this week.

The shocking footage shows the man, named Shiva, standing by train tracks in Hyderabad and holding his smartphone in front of him, recording a selfie clip.

As Shiva smiles, a train appears in the background.

The stunning moment he’s hit soon comes.

Shiva goes flying and the phone soon goes blank but the audio remains on, capturing bystanders running to his aid.

Someone offscreen had tried to warn Shiva of the danger he was in but he motioned them that he was fine.

At one point, he can be heard saying “wait.”

Indeed, friends of the man told NDTV that Shiva misjudged the train’s speed and the wind. According to the broadcaster, he did survive the collision with injuries to his head.
India Today reported that Shiva was admitted to a local hospital for treatment and railway police charged him with trespassing.

NDTV said that India has the most number of deaths because of reckless selfie-taking. “Between March 2014 and September 2016, 60 percent of all ’selfie deaths’ took place in the country,” the broadcaster reported.

Posing with a train, either near one or while riding on one, is a popular selfie form and sometimes results in death.

People commenting on NDTV said that Shiva is lucky to be alive.
