Several people have been injured outside the Natural History Museum in London after reports say a car mounted the pavement on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 7.

Police said a man was detained on the scene.

Footage from Twitter shows people running away from the museum after a car plowed into a crowd of people.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived on the scene and reports described helicopters ahead.

An image shared on social media shows a man being pinned down by four people, with debris infront of him.

Police have described the incident as a collision and will provide more details later.

An unnamed eyewitness told the BBC, “When waiting for the light, we heard what I thought was gunshots and saw a car drive over the pavement. We just ran. My friend dived on the floor and cut her hands.”

The Natural History Museum was closed and visitors were evacuated out of a side exit.

The Natural History Museum called it a “serious incident” and will provide further information when available.
