French President Sarkozy reshuffled his Cabinet while forming a new government on Sunday.
A day earlier Prime Minister Francois Fillon presented the official resignation of the government to the president.
Fillon was reappointed as prime minister, but now of a smaller, more right-wing government.
While many ministers retained their posts in the new government, Sarkozy has replaced his Defense and Foreign ministers.
The reshuffle of the government comes as President Sarkozy’s popularity has gone down considerably in the polls. In regional elections earlier this year, Sarkozy’s political party experienced big losses.
For months there has been speculation that Sarkozy would change his government in a bid to improve his popularity ahead of the 2012 presidential elections.
