Last week’s mysterious disappearance of a reporter for a Texas football team became stranger still when the woman broke the silence on what happened to her.

Courtney Roland, 29, released a statement on Monday, Jan. 15, to say that the reason she went missing was an “adverse reaction” to prescription medication.

“On Friday I was released from Houston Methodist Medical Center,” Roland wrote on Twitter. “After undergoing five days of extensive testing, doctors determined I suffered an adverse reaction to my prescription medication. I am doing much better and look forward to returning back to work covering Texas A&M football for Rivals.com when the time is right.”
Roland was reported missing on Jan. 7 after texting a friend that she was being followed by a stranger, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Suspecting foul play, concerned friends and family contacted the police and launched a social media campaign to try and locate her.

A passerby who heard news of her disappearance spotted the missing reporter walking under the Interstate 610 overpass in western Houston and called the police, according to the newspaper.

Police finally located Roland at a Chick-fil-A restaurant at the Houston Galleria mall.

Authorities found her disorientated about what had happened to her, but otherwise unharmed.

“When our people were talking with her she seemed pretty confused about everything,” police Lt. Manuel Cruz Jr. said, CBS News reported.

When she was found, she had minor injuries but was otherwise fine, the CBS report said.

Roland says she has not much recollection of what happened to her, CBS reported, and investigators do not suspect foul play.
