Report: Man Gets Stranded on Fountain in Florida Lake After Stealing Boat

In the wee hours of Friday, Dec. 15, someone called 911 about a man who had become stranded on a fountain in the middle of an lake in Orlando, Florida.

Police and fire rushed to the area at about 4 a.m., where they saw a man standing on the iconic Linton E. Allen Memorial Fountain in Lake Eola shivering in shorts and a life jacket.

WFTV9 reports that the man apparently stole a swan boat that was in the lake and paddled to the fountain with it. Once on the fountain, the man became stranded after the boat floated away.

The Orlando Police department says someone heard the man yelling for help and called 911.

As rescuers got the man into a motorboat and then loaded him onto a stretcher to be taken to the hospital, he can be seen in WFTV9 footage visibly shaking. He was able to talk, however.

Weather Underground said the temperature in Orlando shortly before 4 a.m. was about 60 degrees with wind about 7 mph.

The man’s name and whether he had a medical condition or used substances that may have contributed to his getting marooned have not yet been released.
