Zlatko Sikorsky, the murder suspect of a 16-year-old girl has barricaded himself in a unit block on the Sunshine Coast, where the police have surrounded him since Friday.
Sikorsky has been held up in the unit overnight and the police have said that he may have access to firearms.
Under the Public Safety Preservation Act, the police created an exclusion zone by blocking off Alex Parade to the north, Mary Street to the west, Mayfield Street to the east and William Street to the south. No one is allowed to enter or exit the exclusion zone.
Police then tracked the black ute to a trailer park on Cedar Drive in Stapylton.
A woman at the park had been offered $2,000 by a male driver to open the gate to allow the vehicle to enter. She agreed to do this out of fear when she saw a barrel in the ute tray and an arm hanging out of it.
Police later found the abandoned vehicle, loaded with the barrel that had a decomposed body inside. Sikorsky was then identified by police as a murder suspect.
The body found in the barrel is suspected to be that of missing 16-year-old girl, Larissa Beilby. However, this is yet to be confirmed. Beilby’s last known contact with family and friends was on June 18.
