The amount of people hit in Pakistan’s worst flood ever has risen up to at least 14 million, 12 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, and another two million in Sindh province.

The death toll over the past week reached at least 1,600, and about 650,000 houses in the affected regions have been destroyed by the catastrophe.

After the flood disaster entered its second week, it destroyed 80 percent of food reserves, causing the chance that a major food crisis will occur to grow.

“We see urgent need of food assistance to people affected by floods to prevent a starvation-like situation,” said Amjad Jamal, spokesperson for the UN World Food Program, according to MG News.

Pakistan’s meteorological department issued more flood warnings, causing waters to continuously wash across the most populated province of Punjab.
