NASA Captures Our Sun Spewing Flares From Its Surface
NASA has shared an image that show an active area of our sun spewing flares from its surface.
The stunning image, photographed between May 23 and 25, shows massive flares and magnetic field lines that stretched out many times the diameter of Earth, according to the space agency.
“Active regions are areas of intense magnetic energy,” it said. “The colorized images were taken in a wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light.”
The temperature at the sun’s core is about 27 million degrees Fahrenheit and its surface temperature is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
The image is from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory.
