CINCINNATI—Chris and Stacy, both computer programmers, attended Divine Performing Arts in Cincinnati on Dec. 23, and were impressed with what they saw.

“It’s really good, actually,” Chris said. “I love the music, the colors are great. The dancing and the flowing is amazing.”

“The same thing,” Stacy said. “I thought the music was really good, and the costumes were really colorful, and it’s really exciting watching the dance!”

Neither had been exposed to Chinese classical dance before, and were delighted with what they saw. “I like the part about the flower, I like that dance the best,” Stacy said. Chris continued from her: “I liked the first part best, with the drums, where they were all lined up—just the choreography, it looks very difficult! I really appreciated that.”

Stacy also pointed out one of her favorite features of the show: “I thought the way the dancers, it looked like they were floating, you know, and the way their costumes were flowing around. I thought it was just really pretty, how it was all put together.”

Stacy had found out about the show from picking up a flier in a Chinese restaurant near her workplace. “I just think it’s a really neat way to learn about Chinese culture,” she said. “We’re all here together anyway, so it’s kind of neat, seeing a bit of somebody else’s culture that we’ve never experienced before.”
