Wednesday’s Pro-Mousavi protest in front of Baharestan Square in Teheran turned bloody as multiple reports coming from inside Iran say that security forces were unleashed onto the streets, commencing brutal beating of protesters that one observer described as a “massacre.”

[Editor’s Note: The Iranian regime has restricted all foreign media in their reporting, photography, and filming inside Iran.]

Witnesses said they heard gunshots, however no reports regarding a potential death toll have been recorded.

One woman who fled the scene called into CNN during a live broadcast reporting on the account.

“They beat people so bad … you know in previous days they were killing students with axes … they put the axe through the hearts of young men. … It’s so devastating … I can’t find the words to describe this … this is horrific, this is a massacre,” said the woman.

Similar to other accounts from witnesses in previous days, the security forces are believed to be a special division inside the Revolutionary Guard.

One Iranian, on condition of anonymity, said the Iranian regime has a division mainly comprised of Arabic forces so as to eliminate the possibility of sentimentality toward the Iranian protesters amid the beatings and torture.

While the violent accounts from Wednesday have been reported, the Iranian regime apparently attempted to shift focus on Thursday, with the sitting President Ahmadinejad lashing out at U.S. President Barrack Obama, likening him to former President George W. Bush.

“Do you think that this kind of behavior is going to solve any of your problems? It will only make people think you are someone like Bush,” said Ahmadinejad as reported by the Fars news agency.

President Obama has said that he is “appalled and outraged” at the violent confrontations with the protesters and has condemned the actions of the Iranian regime for suppressing the will of the Iranian people.

“No iron fist is strong enough to shut off the world from bearing witness to peaceful protests of justice,” he said during a White House press conference on Tuesday.
