Mexican Grandfather, 92, Beaten With Brick in LA: ‘Go Back to Mexico’
A 92-year-old Mexican national visiting his family in Los Angeles was beaten and told to go back to Mexico, according to reports. The suspect, who has not been identified and who is reportedly a black woman, was captured on camera by a neighbor.
The woman was filmed with her child, and she appeared to have an object that was used to beat the elderly man.
Rodolfo Rodriguez said that he passed a woman on his daily walk when she allegedly started hitting him with a brick and called on a group of men to join in on the attack, CNN reported.
A neighbor filmed the assault, it was reported. The female suspect then allegedly told him, “Go back to your country.”
According to his grandson, the attack took place on July 4. He was “going for his daily walk around the block when he was assaulted by [an] African-American lady and five other guys,” a GoFundMe says. “He is doing really bad, has a lot of bruises on his face and a broken cheekbone.”

“I can’t walk anymore,” Rodriguez told CNN in an interview. “I’m in so much pain.”
He’s a permanent resident of the United States who lives in Michoacan, Mexico. He visits California twice a year, according to reports.
“I just passed her and she pushed me and she hit me until she was done,” he said, adding that he was walking to a nearby park when the assault took place.
Misbel Borjas, who saw the incident and captured it via her phone, told CNN that she attacked the elderly man, telling him to “go back to your country, go back to Mexico.” Borjas tried to defend the man, but she said that the woman threatened her with a brick.
“It was terrible, terrible, terrible,” she told the Washington Post. “There was a lot of blood on his head and face. He looked like his mouth and teeth were broken.”
“I’m just overwhelmed how anybody can do this to a human being at all,” Erik Mendoza, the man’s grandson, told CBS News. “He’s 92 years of age. There’s no harm that he meant for you to treat him the way you did.”
Sheriff’s Deputy D’Angelo Robinson told KTLA that police are “concerned” about the crime, but they’ve not yet determined a motive. “There was what appears to be a 4-year-old child there who witnessed the entire thing,” he said. “We can’t have these kind of people like that out in the streets.”
Mendoza set up a GoFundMe to pay for his expenses, surpassing $200,000.
