From Dream Car to Nightmare Crash
A driver has described how he escaped death after a patch of ice sent his car spinning on the highway and into the path of an oncoming truck.
Trent Gabel was heading home to Utah in his dream car, purchased only a few days before, on Interstate 80, Wyoming, when he hit the ice.
“I lost control of my vehicle, went across the median, I saw the headlights of the tractor-trailer—a semi—and I had a head-on collision with them,” Gabel told Fox 13.
He said that the seat belt saved his life, along with a quick-witted decision.
“I went to the left so I’d hit on the passenger side instead of direct impact on the left,” Gabel said.
Trent was able to walk away from the crash with only a small cut to his nose.
