Man Who Fell Unconscious Onto Train Tracks Lucky to Survive

Hair-raising video footage has been released of a man who fainted and tumbled onto live train tracks in Sydney, Australia.

The man was waiting for a train at 1:54 p.m. on a Monday afternoon when he lost consciousness and somersaulted head-first onto the train track.

A fellow commuter who was standing next to the man tried to catch hold of him as he seemingly lost balance, but couldn’t grab him in time.

Everyone watched in shock as the man fell down from the safety of the platform. To make matters worse, the incident occurred just as a train was approaching the station.

Fortunately for him, the train that was approaching was able to stop in time.

“In this incident, the train pulled up very quickly,” said Rob Austin from Sydney Trains.

According to a 7 News report, the customer service officer seen in the video footage saved the day by raising both his hands above his head in emergency stop position.

If it wasn’t for the officer, “the six men that jumped to a stranger’s aid would have found themselves in serious trouble,” reported 7 news.

“We understand it’s human nature to want to help someone who’s been injured, but jumping on a live track is incredibly dangerous, and an injury to one person can quickly become an injury to more,” Austin told 7 News.

According to 7 News, Sydney’s trains were delayed by sick passengers more than 400 times last year.

The man who fainted was very lucky to emerge from his ordeal with just minor injuries; a cut to his head and some shoulder bruising.
