Mirand Buzaku was going through some grainy old family holiday snaps of his fiancé, when his eye was drawn to a boy on an inflatable in the background who looked familiar.

On closer examination of the clothes the boy was wearing, and after talking to his family, he realized his hunch was right—it was himself.

Buzaku became engaged to Verona Koliqi earlier in the summer, but they had not grown up knowing each other.

Koliqi posted the photograph to Instagram, together with an explanation, and gained over 30,000 likes within a week, together with hundreds of comments.

“One day I was looking at this old beach photo that was taken 10 years ago and showed my fiancé (now) the photo so we can have a laugh and run down memory lane,” she wrote.

But looking at the photo of the beach at Montenegro, his eyes strayed to the background of the image.

“He noticed the kid in the back had the same shirt, shorts and floaty as him,” she wrote.

After some “investigations” and consultation with family members, she said they confirmed, that it’s him “photobombing my family photo.”

The couple met each other (as far as they know) for the first time in the summer of 2016. A year later and he proposed, in a moment captured on camera and posted proudly to Instagram.
