Ursula Presgrave, the 22-year-old British native who made an offensive comment about her former boss Nev Wilshire, gained a lot of media attention recently as she compared Wilshire to a well-known missing victim, 3-year-old Madeleine McCann.
“Hate to tell you darling but you look like a r***d version of Madeline McCann, just saying,” Presgrave wrote on her public Facebook profile page on April 8.
Madeleine McCann went missing in 2007 when on a family vacation in Portugal. She disappeared on the evening of May 3 from her bed in the apartment where her British parents and twin siblings also stayed. The case has been documented as “the most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history,” by The Telegraph publication.
Presgrave made an appearance on an episode of “The Call Center,” a hit BBC Three documentary series about a small-town call center CEO, Nev Wilshire, and his staff. During an interview with Wales Online she said the Facebook comment was made in jest.
“It was a joke and there are jokes out there worse than that... It was not really aimed at Madeleine McCann, it was not aimed at anyone particularly,” she said.
Many people on Facebook condemned Presgrave’s comments, although some praised her outspoken nature.
On April 13, the girl posted “So are people like this ”sick, vile etc“ because they seem to enjoy my sense of humour, people forget the world is a huge place. Read & weep,” she wrote.
Presgrave also said she is happily occupied at a different job, and that she wants to move on.
