For the 27th consecutive year, the Labrador Retriever is America’s most popular dog breed, the American Kennel Club said on Wednesday.

The top three dog breeds remained unchanged from the previous year, with the German Shepherd Dog coming in at number two and the Golden Retriever remaining at the third spot.

The big upset for the 2017 list was the French Bulldog, that jumped two spots to come in at number four, knocking the ever popular Beagle out of the top five.

It was a surprise for Brandi Hunter of the American Kennel Club, who said that the top five have remained unchanged for the past few years.

“The Frenchie is chugging along. People love their French Bulldogs, it is also the most popular dog breed in New York City,” she told Reuters at the press conference in New York.

It’s because the “Frenchie” is perfectly adaptable to city life, explained breeder Gale Golden.

“They’re not needy so they can amuse and then settle down and watch the football game with you,” Golden said.

Their English cousin, the English Bulldog rounded out the top five. According to the American Kennel Club, it was the first time that the Beagle didn’t make the top five since 1998.
