With the rising popularity of veganism, the vegan food tour business is just waiting to be tapped.
Intrepid Travel, which only uses local travel guides, is offering vegan tours in 2019 in three countries known for their culinary heritage: India, Italy, and Thailand. Their food tours are among the most popular of their offerings. In 2017, Intrepid has seen a 28 percent growth in bookings of food-themed trips from North America.
The 8-day tour to India, which runs from April 19 to 26 ($1,160) takes guests to Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, and along the way, to experience a variety of foods in different settings; Old Delhi street foods, traveling by rickshaw; lunch at the Sheroes Hangout in Agra, a café and social enterprise that supports female acid attack victims; a feast at the famed Castle Kanota in Rajasthan; and cooking classes with local experts.
