Having built-up to a dangerous class four hurricane, cyclone Thomas, which has already damaged parts of Fiji, is threatening more.

The outer parts of cyclone Thomas, the worst storm Fiji has had to face in years, reached the north part of the group of islands on Sunday. Heavy waves, over 25 feet, and continuous hard winds have caused communications to go down, and thousands of people to flee for safety.

Other parts of the country are preparing for the storm to come. According to meteorologist notes published in the Fiji Times, the slow movement of the storm will batter houses and shelters in the northern and eastern parts of the country with winds and heavy rain for 12 hours or more. The threat is expected to pass by late Wednesday local time.
