How Daytona Celebrates Independence Day Weekend—With NASCAR Racing
Independence Day weekend is setting out to be a good weekend for racing fans—especially if they’re in Daytona, Fla., where two NASCAR races will take place.
In addition to the Coca-Cola Firecracker 250, a NASCAR Xfinity Series 250-mile race, there’s also the Coke Zero Sugar 400 Weekend. Practice and qualifying runs for the latter are on July 5 and 6, and the 160-lap race on July 7 at 7 p.m. Drivers will race 400 miles, or 160 laps. And to celebrate America’s birthday, one of the biggest fireworks displays in the Southeast will start when the checkered flag drops, about 10 p.m.
Both races will take place at the Daytona International Speedway, the only stadium in the world devoted to motorsports.
