HONG KONG–A rally and parade was held in Hong Kong on March 14 supporting the 70 million Chinese who have now quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)and its affiliated organizations by posting a statement of withdrawal on the Tuidang Web Site.

In 2004, The Epoch Times published a series of editorials titled the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party which provided a historical account of the Party and exposed its tyrannical nature. The Nine Commentaries were later compiled into a book and DVD, and a movement developed in which people who had pledged their lives to the Party began to post statements on the Internet renouncing that pledge. The number of statements posted is now close to 70 million.

The organizers of the rally and parade, including the Hong Kong Service Center for Quitting the CCP and the Hong Kong Epoch Times, said that many residents have recognized that the totalitarian rule of the CCP is destroying the core values of the people of Hong Kong and cutting Hong Kong’s lifeline. Many people are stepping forward to say no to the CCP.

David Gao, chairman of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, spoke via a webcast. He said the huge wave of people quitting the CCP has become an unstoppable force over the past five years. He urged more people to join the movement in order to completely disintegrate the CCP.

Many political leaders in Hong Kong showed their support for the rally.

Chow Wai-tung, district councilor of Hong Kong’s Democratic Party, praised the Quit the CCP movement and said, “It is not only a movement to awaken the Chinese people—it is also a movement to save the Chinese people and our country.”

Mr. Chow believes the CCP will collapse in the near future. He recommended that everyone read the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party because it presents an in-depth analysis of the nature of the Party, something which has never been done before.

Szeto Wah, chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China, spoke via video, noting that the CCP claims to have 70 million Party members. Since 70 million Chinese people have now quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, this indicates that the CCP has already collapsed, he said.

Several members of the Legislative Council, including Hon. Leung Yiu-chung, Hon. Andrew Cheng Kar-foo, and Hon. Wong Sing-chi also spoke via video to express their support for the Quit the CCP movement.

Hon. Andrew Cheng Kar-foo said that the 70 million withdrawals represent the consciences of 70 million people as well as the lack of confidence the Chinese people have regarding China’s future under the CCP’s totalitarian rule. He called upon people of conscience everywhere, especially Chinese people, to continue saying no to the CCP.

Ms. Tian, a volunteer worker for the Taiwan Service Center for Quitting the CCP, shared her story of helping Chinese in Mainland China learn about the movement. “After I spoke with the party secretary of a village in Sichuan Province about the information in the Nine Commentaries, he held a meeting for the villagers to tell them about the opportunity to quit the CCP. As a result, more than 200 villagers submitted statements of withdrawal.”

After the rally, the Celestial Band led the parade of 600 people through the streets of Hong Kong. They held banners with messages encouraging people to quit the CCP. The powerful music and messages attracted the attention of many Hong Kong residents.
