Homeless Man and Business Woman Join Forces to Help the Homeless

A homeless man found a $10,000 check on the street. He then returned it to the owner—a successful business woman. Now, they’re joining forces to help other people living on the street.

Elmer Alvarez was down on his luck, living homeless in Connecticut, when he found the check in an envelope.

A friend helped Almarez to call the phone number on the check. That’s how he found its owner, Roberta Hoskie.

Hoskie only realized that she’d lost the check when she got the phone call.

It turns out that Hoskie had also had her share of hard times.

According to her website, she was once a teenage single parent on welfare. Hoskie has even been homeless herself.

According to their website, the school is designed to equip students with the skills needed to be successful real estate agents. Its course runs over nine weeks and costs $495.

Alvarez, who found Hoskie’s $10,000 check is now a student there.

After Alvarez returned the check, Hoskie found him a place to live, paid his first six months of rent, and got him free classes at her real estate school.

After attending real estate school, Alvarez has some ideas on how Hoskie can use her skills and experience to help the homeless.
