Rumors said Google will host a special media event on September 29th to unveil a new generation of Nexus devices, including the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Other reports also said a second-generation Chromecast device is also coming out at the event. And Google has finally confirmed the announcement by issuing press invites for the keynote.

The company asked media to join Google “for some tasty new treats and much s’more.” The message seems to be a clear indication that the final version Android 6.0 Marshmallow is coming out at some point after the event. That likely means new Nexus devices should also be expected to highlight some of the new features Android 6.0 supports, including USB Type-C charging and data transfers, and fingerprint identification and payments.

Google’s event is all the more extraordinary considering the company did not hold Nexus smartphone keynotes in the past two years. Instead, Google quietly released new Nexus hardware alongside the final versions of Android each year.

On the other hand, for the first time since introducing the Nexus program, Google will launch two differently sized Nexus devices, supposed to fit all pockets – pun intended. The LG Nexus 5X is going to have a 5.2-inch display and a budget-friendly price, reports revealed, while the Huawei Nexus 6P will be a high-end phablet that'll cost you a pretty penny.

The September 29th media event will be live streamed on youtube.com/google, starting at 9 a.m., in case you'll want to follow the announcements along.
