Antonius Wiriadjaja was walking down the street in a New York City borough when he was struck by a bullet. Thanks to a stranger’s help, he escaped death, but just by an inch.

One year later, he reunited with his rescuer John and found out that they’ve got much more in common than he would have ever thought.

This incredible story filmed by the Purpose production gives a worrying picture of gun safety on American streets, and of what can happen to anybody anytime.

“I never really wanted to be a part of this today. I didn’t have a choice. I was just a random guy walking down the street and got shot,” Antonius revealed after the meeting.

Their story doesn’t have a happy ending though.
