A couple married for 67 years, and said by relatives to have a “telepathic connection,” died within 90 minutes of each other in separate hospitals in the UK.
The couple’s granddaughter Ros Harding said to reporters that family members broke the news of Arthur’s death to Dorothy.
“We told her that he had died, and we said, ”Nana, you can go“. And that’s when the life started to fall away from her.”
“We feel like there was some telepathic connection between them,” Harding added.
The two married in 1950 and lived together until about 10 weeks ago when they fell ill and were hospitalized–she with heart problems and he with lung disease.
‘They were just lovely people. Everyone in the area knew them.
“My nan would always be at the front door looking out for everyone. Anyone who knew them would say the same thing,” their granddaughter said.
The couple spent their final Christmas together before relocating to separate health facilities in the New Year.They spent their final days six miles apart.
Arthur died at Royal Oldham Hospital while Dorothy at Manchester General Hospital. He was 91 and she was 88.
They were from Newton Heath, UK.
The couple leave behind two children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
