Girl Reunited With Beloved Doll Lost During Hurricane Harvey
Thanks to a doting aunt, a 6-year-old girl has been reunited with her beloved baby doll, six months after it was lost when Hurricane Harvey barreled through Texas.
The touching moment Sarah Mitchel returned the doll to her niece, Emily, was caught on video after it had been found in another state thanks to a special Facebook group.
Emily’s precious “pink baby” was lost during packing when the family was affected by the flooding that followed Hurricane Harvey in August, explained Mitchell in the Facebook post accompanying the video.
“Every night my niece cries herself to sleep, missing pink baby,” she wrote.
For several months, they looked, but couldn’t find the doll, which Emily has owned since she was 18 months old.
Then, Mitchell posted a plea to Facebook group specially set up to help track down lost precious toys called Plush Memories.
The next morning, to her surprise, she got a reply from a new member of the group, Kristen, who said she was in a Savers store when she remembered about the doll.
“I figured I’d look in the toy section with this little doll in mind and well…. there she was!” wrote Kristen.
Mitchell said that Kristen gave “pink baby” a good bath, wrapped her up very safely and then sent the doll through many states to her home in Texas.
All that was left was for Mitchell to return the doll to Emily.
One or two social media users have gently suggested in their comments that the doll may not be the same one. But with Emily and her aunt convinced, and social media users overwhelmingly charmed by the video, no one appears to be looking to prove the happy duo wrong.
