Georgina Chapman Breaks Silence on Ex-Husband Harvey Weinstein
Fashion designer Georgina Chapman has finally broken her silence to Vogue about the sexual abuse allegations against her ex-husband, Harvey Weinstein.
The Marchesa co-founder, who settled her divorce from Weinstein in January, told Vogue in its June 2018 issue she has been seeing a therapist. Chapman said she was “never” suspicious about her husband’s behavior during their 10-year union.
“That’s what makes this so incredibly painful: I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life,” she shared.
Chapman said she hasn’t really left the townhouse she once shared with Weinstein.
“I was so humiliated and so broken,” she said. “I thought, ‘Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on?’ It’s still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs.”
Chapman announced on Oct. 10, 2017, that she was leaving Weinstein in light of his sexual misconduct allegations.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered,” she said in a statement to People.
Weinstein is now under criminal investigation in cities including London, Los Angeles, and New York City.
