Three sheriff’s deputies and a police officer were shot early on Tuesday, Jan. 16, as they were searching for a suspect in a domestic violence case, it was reported.
At 1:07 a.m., an officer from the York County Sheriff K-9 unit was shot at 1:07 a.m. and was rushed to the hospital. At 3:30 a.m., three officers were shot, and two were airlifted and a third was sent to the hospital via car.
Christian Thomas McCall, 47, the suspect, was shot by police and was in custody, Faris said.
McCall allegedly assaulted a woman, the CBS report said.
“We could really use your prayers and thoughts for those officers right now,” Faris said at a news conference on Tuesday, according to WSOC-TV.
Regarding the four officers, no names have been released.
Their conditions were also not disclosed.
McCall had been assaulting his wife, his father-in-law said. But he expressed surprise to WSOC-TV, saying that committing acts of violence towards police is not like McCall.
