Police have no idea why former Arizona State University football player Brock Haman and his companion, Veronica Birk, ended up dead in a Scottsdale, Arizona apartment.
Police say that evidence collected at the scene indicate that drug use may have been involved in the deaths. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will issue an official cause of death after the bodies have been examined.
The Cibloa Apartment Complex is not the sort of neighborhood where drug activity is expected. One woman who spoke to ABC15 reporters was staying there in an apartment as an Air BnB tenant.
“It was kind of freaky to see all the crime scene tape and equipment,” said Mindy Kenney, visiting from Atlanta. “It’s disconcerting because you wonder if there is a crime issue in the area or if someone is on the loose. You just don’t know.”
