The elegant Vapour Silver Clearcoat Edge Limited FWD that I drove for a week had an appealing black leather interior with front bucket seats and a Panoramic Vista roof. The Edge seats five passengers easily, while still offering plenty of room for luggage, groceries, or other gear.
The Edge Limited features a 3.5 Liter V-6 engine with automatic overdrive transmission, dual chrome exhaust tips, fog lamps, keyless entry keypad, power heated mirrors, and rear body-coloured spoiler.
The 19 gallon fuel tank is a plus, since no one likes to visit a gas station more often than necessary in these times of exorbitant prices at the pump.
The Edge also features power steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, four-wheel disk brakes, advance track with RSC, Securilock pass anti-theft, safety canopy, side airbags, side impact door beams, and tire pressure monitor system as standard features.
Luxury features included accessory turn-off delay, dual electronic auto temperature controls, six-way power/heated front seats; fold flat passenger seats; center floor console with storage, leather trimmed 60/40 rear bench with easy-fold release, leather steering wheel with audio and climate controls, and sync voice-activated system.
While the Edge is available in three trims, including the Sporty SE and the stylish SE1, the 2008 Ford Edge Limited combines elements of both for a starting price of $30,320. Optional features including Class II trailer tow package, the panoramic vista roof, navigation system and DVD, and Sirius radio brought the test model’s total price (including destination and delivery charges) to $36,275. The Edge gets 16 miles per gallon in town and 24 mpg on the highway.
