Flying Cars Closer to Hitting the Skies
Flying cars that look like scenes from Star Wars has become a reality. Companies like eVolo, Airbus, and Ehang are developing drones and flight vehicles that can fly over 11,000 feet.
Uber predicts that in 10 years, urban air taxis will be roaming the skies. The company has even taken the initiative to partner with NASA to develop sky ports. The company’s new vision for this concept, uberAIR, would let customers get high-speed flights within cities by pushing a button.
Furthermore, the Kitty Hawk Flyer is a personal aircraft model that uses 10 battery-powered propellers. It can fly up to 20 miles per hour and up to 20 feet in the air. Kitty Hawk Corporation’s CEO Sebastian Thrun has led its research and development.
While the sci-fi dream of personal aircraft is well under way, automated air traffic control systems, safety tests, and cultural acceptance may prove to be challenges that lie ahead.
