Weston is located off Highway 435, the main route to the KC International Airport and the twin cities of Kansas City Missouri and Kansas. So, between going to a convention or vacation traveling, Weston is the place to stop and take in a few minutes of sight-seeing or several hours of eating and shopping.
I never come home empty-handed after visiting as the shopping is just fun, be it gifts, clothes, whatever. And I definitely have to eat here. It is on one manageable hill with a main street of mostly pre-civil-war buildings and homes that have been turned into shops. There are plenty of antiques, home furnishings, art galleries, collectibles and all kinds of wonderful stuff. There is even a very popular old fashioned small town hardware store with ‘you name it- it has it’. (Ask and you will be surprised.) And a Soda Fountain.
Many folks from the suburbs retire here to be an artist or to open shops. The gardens on the first Home and Garden Tour add a great atmosphere, too. Weston also has a winery. It is one small town of less than 2,000 people with lots to offer.
The surrounding area offers views of the Missouri River, wild grasses, flowers and forests. It seems cooler there due to the shade of the trees and the closeness of nature and the small population.
