An Oklahoma father who claimed that his daughter killed herself will face a murder trial, according to reports.

Ronald Lee McMullen was ordered to stand trial by Cleveland County Judge Steve Stice, who said there was probable cause, the Norman Transcript publication reported.

The 43-year-old is being held without bond on first-degree murder charges after his daughter, Kailee, 22, was found dead on June 29 in Norman.

The father is said to have called 911 to report that his daughter killed herself.

Officers pronounced her dead at the scene, determining that the shooting was suspicious.

McMullen was found covered in blood, and he tried to keep wiping it from himself. Officers were then forced to physically restrain him from doing so several times, People magazine reported.

He initially told officials that he had witnessed Kailee shoot herself while “playing with a wheel-gun,” with a revolver pointed to her face and her thumb on the trigger, a detective testified in the case. McMullen then said the gun went “pop” when he tried to take it from her, the detective said.

As crime scene photos were taken, court documents said Ronald got on the ground and “began covering himself in dirt,” CBS News reported. When an officer picked him up, the man “had dug a small hole.”

Police asked him about cleaning the blood, and the police, “I don’t know why I did that,” the report said.

He also allegedly moved the woman’s body from the kitchen to the living room following the shooting.

Police claimed that he was accused of abusing his daughter in 2009 but wasn’t charged. They also said he was a “very controlling father,” and his wife said he would track her phone, according to the CBS report.

The gun was shot 18 inches from the victim, police Detective Brian Franks told the judge.

“It tells me it was fired outside of her reach,” he said, People reported.

McMullen hasn’t yet entered a plea in the case.

KFOR reported on the 911 call, made Thursday, June 29 at 5:45 a.m. when he told the dispatcher his daughter was shot in the face:
“Did she do it?” asked the 911 operator.
“Yes,” answered Ronald.
An obituary published in the Norman Transcript on Monday says Kailee “cherished her family and always had time for them.”

“Kailee had a zest for life and a bubbly personality, was quick witted, and had a quirky sense of humor,” her obituary read. “Always the entertainer, she loved making people laugh and was famous for the elaborate costumes she would put together when the occasion arose.”

It says, “Kailee was a good and loyal friend, and all who knew her were better for it.”

She was working to become an EMT in Norman when she died.
