Dutch police on Thursday arrested a man after he made threats to the royal family.

The arrest comes as tensions, and security measures, are high for the ‘Queen’s Day’ celebration on Friday.

Seven people were killed during last year’s celebration when a car drove into a crowd while attempting to collide with the open-top bus of the Dutch royal family.

The driver, Karst Tates, didn’t manage to hit the bus, but instead came to a stop when his car slammed into a monument. He died a few hours later.

A memorial for the victims was unveiled on Thursday, the ceremony attended by Dutch Queen Beatrix.

Queen’s Day is an annual national holiday in the Netherlands that marks the birthday of the mother of Queen Beatrix, former Queen Wilhelmina.

The celebration is iconic for the garish orange dress donned by the citizenry throughout the country. In Amsterdam, many celebrate on small boats on the city’s water channels.
