Dramatic Footage Shows Thieves Trying to Rip ATM From Shop Wall

This is the disturbing moment a group of would-be ATM robbers use a stolen forklift to ram a cash machine, before smashing a police car window and making a dramatic getaway.

Police in Derbyshire, UK, released the security camera footage in hopes of obtaining information leading to the capture of the suspects.

The video shows a pickup truck arrive and stop outside an ATM at around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, and a figure emerge holding what appears to be a coil of wire rope.

Moments later a forklift arrives.

A car containing apparent associates of the would-be thieves arrives and, moments later, the forklift begins to ram the wall in which the cash machine is embedded.

Suddenly, the suspects notice an approaching police car and scramble to get into their getaway car, while one of the figures runs up to the police vehicle and smashes its windscreen.

According to the police news release, officers received cuts to their faces.

The suspects managed to escape.
