SAN DIEGO—Isabella Karmach and her husband Mohammed attended the Divine Performing Arts show at the San Diego Civic Theater on December 26.

Isabella is a hospital administrator with a very stressful job. In fact, she was still monitoring her hospital staff just before the show started.

When asked what they thought about the dancers, Isabella said, “They are not only artists, but they are great athletes. They are inspirational in the way they used their bodies and the grace that they exhibit on stage.”

She added,“It really reminds you to look past superficial things and see the meaning of what’s behind that.”

Her husband, Mohammed, originally from Syria, and a drummer and former dancer, added, “The stuff you have inside without knowing you have it.”

They were both impressed with the drumming in the show, Mohammed remarked that it was both “delicate and strong at the same time.”

Mohammed said, “I like Chinese music because it has a lot of drumming in it, and that brings more feeling into it.”

Isabella agreed, saying, “The harmony brings you harmony inside of yourself.”

The couple had a lot to say about the colors used in the show.

“The colors are very powerful. The colors add to the shape and the form of their dancing, and the fact that they can do everything with such rhythm and such synchronicity, they do it all at one time, and the color creates the shape of the stories they are trying to tell.” said Isabella.

Isabella added that “Art and music will do that, it will take you to new places inside of yourself.”

San Diego will be host to three more shows over the weekend.
